Merlind Constanze Pohl

Mezzo-soprano

The mezzo-soprano Merlind Constanze Pohl (born 1995) received her first singing lessons at the age of eight. After completing her Abitur at the Landesgymnasium für Musik Wernigerode, she first devoted herself to the concert and oratorio subject. In her many years of choral experience, she met conductors such as Peter Schreier, Michael Sanderling, Ludwig Güttler, Hans-Christoph Rademann and Simone Young. Merlind C. Pohl has won several prizes at the national youth music competition. During her studies at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater, in the class of KS Prof. Michaela Kaune, she took part in various opera and drama productions. She sang the role of Cherubino from Mozart's opera 'Le nozze di Figaro' under the direction of Ulrich Windfuhr and worked with young directors such as Rieke Süßkow and Matthias Piro. During her studies, she deepened her knowledge of historical performance practice and baroque singing and worked with singers such as Mark Tucker and Vivicagenau, as well as the
Pianist Arthur Schoonderwoerd, specialist in fortepiano. In addition, Merlind Pohl cultivates the song genre and organizes regular recitals with her pianists Angie Rosselin Chan and Helene Popovic. She received important musical impulses in the lied class of Prof. Burkhardt Kehring and through master classes, among others with KS Peter Schreier and KS Roman Trekel.
Merlind Pohl is a scholarship holder of the 'Young Musicians Foundation', the 'Yehudi Menuhin LMN' and the 'Gisela Bartels Foundation'. As part of the international Saxon singer academy in June 2018, she received the 'Economic Promotion Prize' of the city of Torgau. In 2019 Merlind Pohl was awarded the Richard Wagner Scholarship from the City of Hamburg.

The Italian-American pianist Elenora Pertz dedicates herself to working with singers, especially as a song accompanist. In 2021 Elenora will make her debut at the Oxford Lieder Festival and will appear again at the Birgitte Fassbaenders Eppaner Liedsommer and the Musée d'Orsay in Paris. She has already gained further performance experience at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, Schubertiade Schwarzenberg and Snape Maltings (Aldeburgh). She is the winner of the Les song competition
Saisons de la Voix 2020 and was a finalist in the Das Lied competition 2019. In 2021 Elenora will release her first two CDs: Zemlinsky Lieder and Saint-Saëns Mélodie with the French tenor Kaëlig Boché (B Records) and Humperdinck Lieder with the baritone Niko-
lay Borchev (Hänssler Classic). She completed two Masters in song accompaniment at the Music and Art University of the City of Vienna (Dr. Carolyn Hague) and the University of Music “Hanns Eisler” Berlin (Prof. Wolfram Rieger) with the highest grades. The young pianist completed her studies as a participant in master classes such as the Royaumont-Orsay Académie, the Schubert Institute Baden near Vienna, the Schubertiade Schwarzenberg and the Hugo Wolf Academy
Stuttgart. She is a Britten Pears, LIED Basel and Leeds Lieder Young Artist. She regularly gained operatic experience at the Komische Oper Berlin and Deutsche Oper Berlin.
